28 weeks

28 WEEKS
Your baby is equal in weight to a Chinese cabbage --
about 2 1/4 pounds. (Length: almost 15 inches, from head to heel.)

I had my 28 week appt yesterday. The baby kicked the doctor when she was trying to get his heartrate! It was in the 150's, which is higher than it normally is. I drank the red sugary drink for the glucose tolerance test and felt AWFUL after...I felt like I was going to puke so I went to my car and laid down in the backseat in the sun for the hour wait. After the hour wait, I went into the office and got my blood drawn and then I got the RHoGam shot or whatever in my butt because I am AB - . Fun fun....anyway I have to go to the OB every two weeks now! Crazy! Time is flying by...

27 weeks

One more week until I am officially in the 3rd trimester. Some people say it's 27 weeks but I don't know. It's in the middle of both weeks I think. Richard and I have the day off...I wanted to go online and try to finish my Babies R Us registry but it's temporarily down to log into....UGH! I am hungry and trying to hold out until dinner. I think we're having cheesy tortellini, caesar salad, and I really want garlic bread but I forgot to buy good bread yesterday. Hmmm...

Anyway, I just weighed myself and I'm still -1 pound pre-pregnancy weight!!! What is the deal? I have huge boobs and a huge belly and I am still less weight than before!!! I am not complaining or anything....I just don't understand. The baby is growing right on schedule though and that is all that matters. Everyone else in the June 2010 Birth Club on BabyCenter.com have gained like 15-30 pounds already! I feel like the weirdo...

Childbirth class!

Today Richard and I had our 8 hour childbirth class. I wasn't going to sign up for one but I decided it would be fun and signed up last minute. I knew lots of the information already but what helped me the most was learning that the hospital does everything that way I want things to go!!!
  • private rooms all facing the water! SCORE!
  • jacuzzi tubs to labor in! DOUBLE SCORE
  • lots of birth balls and tennis balls HAHA
  • 3 ppl in the room (i am only having Richard and hopefully Mom if she is here in time!)
  • they usually don't do episiotomies unless its REALLY necessary....other techniques are used
  • I get to walk around and do whatever i want to help labor
  • patio on the 4th floor
  • room in with baby....and holding baby skin to skin for awhile

Richard was super tired and practically fell asleep during one segment of the class....lol....but after lunch he woke up. We practiced slow dancing, massages, and breathing....it was very hilarious to watch Richards face react to all the videos of women in transition phase actually delivering the baby. My face was probably the same....YUCK! haha

Anyway, I'm 26 weeks 5 days now and I took a couple of new pictures tonight. My belly is HUGE! (and only getting bigger!)

26 weeks

I'm 26 weeks 1 day pregnant today. Last night the baby was moving more than ever before...for a long time! I tried to get some of the movement on the flip video camera but he stopped moving when I got out of bed. My back is starting to hurt real bad...and I REALLY have to finish my babies r us registry. We only went through half of the store a few months ago. I need to register for the crib and other stuff. Anyway, Babycenter now says that our baby is the size of an English hothouse cucumber. Weird, right?! Haha

Dexter Season 4

Richard and I decided to get the showtime channels for just one month so we can watch Dexter Season 4 before it comes out on DVD in August. How lame are we on a scale from 1-10? Heehee. Whatever!!! Dexter is amazing and I've watched like 5 episodes in one day. It's almost midnight and now Richard has to catch up to all the episodes I have watched today.

Nesting alert!!!

I'm 25 weeks now and yesterday I cleaned the apartment for about 8 hours! I couldn't stop! Richard vacuumed and steam cleaned the carpets while I did the famous "keep or chuck".....3 trash bags and 3 bags of goodwill clothes later....I was finished! It took a long time organizing everything and making room for the baby.

25 weeks!

I am starting to take weekly pictures and videos because I love my camera (from nya, evan, mom and ken) and the flip video Mom just gave to me. It's crazy how fast the pregnancy is going....I am almost sad because it's almost over.....or just beginning : ) I can't wait to meet my baby boy but it's going to be hard to say goodbye to this chapter....feeling him kick in my stomach. I never want to forget the feeling of this. It definitely hasn't been easy but it has been well worth the headaches, morning sickness, hospital stay for pneumonia, heartburn, constipation, gas, and EVERYTHING else I am forgetting about! lol

I'm starting to feel real big!

It's starting to get harder to walk up my three flights of stairs without being out of breath!! My boobs won't stop growing and I have so much extra blood flow in my body I can hear my heart beat in my right ear....which is very uncomfortable!!! 16 weeks left until my due date!!!

20-25 weeks

What's going on with me :
  • Back pain!!!
  • Starting to gain back the 15 pounds I lost in the beginning....still 4 pounds under pre-pregnancy weight! That's good because I was a little chubbers to begin with. Haha!
  • Leaky boobs! SEXY
  • Horrible leg cramps at night that wake up me....I started drinking a ton of water and eating bananas close to bedtime....and I haven't had any in a few weeks!
  • Feeling nauseous sometimes due to the baby rolling all over the place!
  • Emotional!!!
I turned 21 years old on February 24th! Mom, Ken, and Taylor came from Vermont and we all went to Kissimmee for my birthday. Richard and I took three days off to relax and enjoy the sun. We had a nice laid back mini vacation!

Babycenter and baby clothes!

So, I'm officially obsessed with babycenter. Haha!
Day by day we are starting to get more and more baby clothes.....here are some of them....

21 weeks 4 days

Feelin good at 21 weeks in skinny maternity jeans!

20 week photo shoot!

fetal anatomy scan pictures

1st picture- body profile....his big belly!!! It's not a great shot of the face though.
2nd picture- penis picture! heehee....it's the view as if we were looking up from his bottom. the two body parts on both edges of the picture are his legs and in the middle is his little penis.
3rd picture- profile of his face....monkey lips!
4th picture- profile of his face.....cute nose!

Fetal Anatomy Scan

A week after my Mom left Florida, we finally had the fetal anatomy scan. I really wanted her to be there with us to find out the sex but she had to leave to go back to work in Vermont. BOO!

Richard asked if his momma could come with us and I was excited that she wanted to go....we took the day off and headed to the OB's office. The first 30 seconds of the sono the tech was like, "you wanna know the sex?!" and before she could tell us I knew right away that it was a boy! You definitely couldn't miss it... if ya know what I mean!! Haha!! I thought I would be a little upset if I found out we were having a boy but I wasn't. I was positive we were having a girl but I guess I was wrong. The second we found out we were all smiling. Richard and his mom were dancing around the ultrasound room. The tech kept taking measurements of the baby and all the sudden I felt a really hard kick....and we saw his little leg kick me on the screen! It was amazing!!

I will post the pictures from the ultrasound in the next blog post. Bye!

This is BS! Haha!

Heartbeat!

Uh oh!!!

Week 17...Disaster!!!
On Saturday night I started to feel sick and then I woke up Sunday morning and felt like my chest was caving in. I had never been in that much pain before. I was really worried so I paged labor and delivery but nobody called me back for over an hour!!! I decided to wake Richard up and make him drive me to the hospital. He was happy to drive me there but unfortunately he was going to have to miss a New England Patriots game on the television. Oh well! Anyway, he drives me up to the ER door because there was NO way I was making it from the parking garage to the ER. I walk in and tell them I can't breathe and my heart feels like it's pounding out of my chest. The people at the desk put the finger thing on my finger to calculate my heart rate and it was 145 beats per minute!!! Earlier that week, the baby had a heart rate of 135!!! They were really concerned and brought me a wheelchair. I went into the pediatric wing of the ER because I am under 21. Funny right? I'm pregnant and in the pediatric unit. HAH! Richard walked in as all the doctors were asking me questions....I was really scared because the ER doctor told me I would have to get a CAT scan to see whats going on. Pregnant women aren't supposed to have x-rays done. He was thinking I might have had a blood clot near my lungs. I get wheeled into the x-ray room and the two women put this blue dye into my IV and it makes me all warm down there like I had to pee! Something wasn't working with the x-ray so I had to wait a little bit....had to pee but I couldn't stand up so the women brought me a bed pan. Seriously?! No pressure or anything....try to pee laying down with two other people watching. I dont think so!!! Not gonna happen. Haha. After 20 minutes of them trying to get this damn machine to work they finally move me to another floor and get me on another x-ray machine. This time is actually works!!! I get wheeled down to be reunited with Ricardo....he isn't in the room....like usual he is roaming the hallways and finding snacks to eat. That man cannot sit still for 2 seconds! If I bring him to my doctors office he'll start playing with the OB/GYN equipment. It's totally embarrassing!

We hang out in the ER room for awhile and then I find out I have a pretty bad case of pneumonia. I started to get really hot and dizzy and the nurse checked me and I had a temperature. She gave me tylenol and my fever went down later on. The ER nurse said I would probably stay there for a little while and be given meds and then go home. OH MAN was she SO wrong! I got admitted to the hospital around 10 pm on January 10th 2009.....I got wheeled up in the bed to my room. Come to find out my nurse for the night was the same exact nurse I had when I was hospitalized in Dec 2008 for my complete molar pregnancy. She was a TOTAL you-know-what. I screamed at her a year before and she had no idea who I was. She was a lot nicer this time around though. Richard and I spend the night in this single room and then in the morning the doctors do rounds at like 6 in the morning!!! SERIOUSLY people.....patients like to sleep. After a few hours, the doctor comes in and says they want to move me to the cardiac unit because my heart rate was still really high. Richard had to leave for work and later on I got wheeled away once again to a different room. I was the youngest person on the cardiac floor by like 20-30 years. I got to my room and realized I had to share it with the oldest woman EVER. I was sooo upset I started crying.....not because she was like 100 but because I wanted to have my own room and have Richard sleepover. If you share a room with someone you can't have a guest spend the night. I don't think I want to spend the night with some old lady while I'm pregnant with his child! My goodness. I called Richard bawling while he was at work....he said he would come and visit at like 1 am after work just to see me again. That wasn't good enough for preggo! I made a big fuss (nicely) to the nurse and after awhile they moved me to a really nice huge room with the best view ever!!! It was AWESOME. The nurses felt bad for me because the old lady had the volume to the TV on the loudest you could ever imagine. I had such a bad headache and she was watching lame TV shows!!! Soooo....Richard came back to the hospital late that night after working and made his nice cozy bed on the couch next to my bed. I had the big heart moniter hooked up to my chest to make sure my heart rate didn't get any higher. It was still around 130 beats per minute at that time.....a normal heart rate is around 80 beats per minute i think.

After the second night in the hospital, I figured I would be able to leave the next day.....that didn't happen! I think I stayed in the cardiac unit for two nights and then was transferred to the OB high risk ward because everyone was scared to have a pregnant chick on their floor!!! The OB said the cardiac unit wasn't used to having pregnant women stayin on their floor.....only old people!! I get to the OB ward with Richard and the nurse comes in after awhile with her huge gown on and a face mask. Apparently everyone thought I might have MRSA or H1N1.....the nurse said I was in isolation until after my labs came back. She took swabs of my saliva and blood samples to test for everything. She taught me how to stop the IV machine from beating and everything because she wasn't going to come into the room again unless it was necessary!!! How scary!!!! My H1N1 test came back negative and at the end of the day the MRSA came back negative. Thank goodness! I was taken off of isolation and finally had more nurses and the techs come in and keep me company for a little while. I ended up staying there for another 4-5 days in the same room....the best room by far even though it didnt have a nice view like the 2nd room in the cardiac unit. It was cleaner and cozy for a hospital room! I got to know the nurses really well....Mom came into Tampa and Richard picked her up from the airport. She spent the night her first night here and let poor Richard have a nice night at home in our actual bed! I was going stir crazy in that room.....I didn't leave that room for like 4 days!!! AAAGHHH.

Anyway, after I left the hospital I had wonderful help from Richard and my Momma who stayed with us. I stayed home for awhile because I was still getting winded from walking a few feet across the apartment. Mom did everything around the house and Richard was working a lot. Ken came down a little later to meet Zoey (my beautiful niece who was born on Jan 4th) and then he left....Mom and I decided together that we didn't have enough time together because I was in the hospital the whole time.....so she stayed a whole extra week! We had a great time even though I was a total lazy bum and still sickly.

Oh P.S.
The whole time I was in the OB ward I kept asking to get a fetal anatomy scan because I wanted to see the sex of the baby but noooo they were too busy! I was so upset!!! It was a little early for the scan though....its normally done around 20 weeks.

Finally feeling better!

Around 15 weeks or so I finally started to feel better! The headaches aren't fun but most days I wake up and feel good. I don't run to the bathroom and hurl everytime I wake up now! WOOHOO. I am so happy right now. I couldn't be happier that I am starting a family with my best friend. He is amazing.

Second Trimester!

I am 13 weeks 5 days today. Some people view the second trimester as starting at 13 weeks and some think it is 14 weeks. I don't really care! I'm finally in the 2nd trimester! Every week I feel a little better...I haven't puked in a few days....still getting horrible headaches though. A friend from work brought over a baby gate and a high chair for us. I think it's time to register for baby stuff at Babies R Us. I definitely need Nya to come help me because I have no idea all the things we will end up needing!

My next appt. is on Jan 8th and I will be in my 16th week. I will not be getting an ultrasound but I will hear the heartbeat again with the fetal doppler. I don't know when my next sono will be....we really want to know the gender right now! Other women on the June 2010 Birth Club on babycenter already have found out the gender. Not fair!! Oh well....I'm glad we are waiting so the OB doesnt make a mistake. Sometimes its too early to really know and sometimes people are told the wrong gender early on.

11 week appt.

Just had my 11 week appt. yesterday....the ob/gyn put the doppler on for the first time and told me not to panic if we couldn't hear anything yet and right when she put it on my stomach we heard the loud, strong heartbeat!!! she gave me another prescription for zofran because its been a month since last time....

Ultrasound was longer than expected.....they provide the NT u/s screening for everyone and we got to spend like over 30 minutes trying to make the baby move into good positions for them to take measurements! Everything looks perfect though and im so relieved......finally i can take a breath! ***fingers crossed*** It was so amazing to see our baby bouncin' around and moving its head and arms! I'm in love!!!

Sonogram!

We had our 2nd sonogram at 7 weeks exactly. The first sonogram was a week earlier but I was told to come back the next week because the u/s tech couldn't see anything. It was too early to see a fetal pole. (The first u/s I went with Karissa) It was a long week waiting to make sure everything was okay. At 7 weeks Richard and I were able to see the baby and hear the heartbeat. After the appt I asked Richard if he could hear that sound and he was like, "yeah, wasn't that you?!" and I started laughing and told him, "No, it was the heartbeat!! Obviously our heartbeats don't beat that fast!" Haha!

I have been extremely sick. I went to the hospital right after this picture was taken. I got an IV and zofran through the IV. I was given a prescription for zofran and phenergan....zofran helped a lot but it was so expensive insurance only covers 8 pills a month. I was given phenergan as well but that just makes me really sleepy.
Hopefully I will feel better soon. This hasn't been easy so far!!!!
